Welcome to Year 2/3’s class page. We hope you enjoy looking at all the fun and exciting things we get up to.
This year our teachers are Miss McCulloch and Mrs Machell.
Our Spring term topic will be called 'Movers and Shakers'. Have a look at our knowledge organisers to see some of the things we will be learning about:
As a treat, we made melted snowman biscuits. We had to be super careful with the icing! But, they were SO yummy!
We played pass the parcel, musical chairs, musical statues and musical bumps. We had so much fun!
In art, we used a variety of equipment to create fire. We used coloured pencils, felt tip pens, wax crayons, oil pastels and water coloured paint. We had to listen carefully to our teacher who taught us how to use them correctly.
In literacy, we have been learning all about owls. We have created our own non-chronological reports. We were really focusing on using commas in a list, adverbs and co-ordination in our pieces of writing.
Our school have been raising awareness of breast cancer. We all wore pink and brought in money for charity, a charity close to our hearts.
We know all about the UK and it's capital cities. We used play dough to help us understand the shape of the countries.
October is Black History Month. We have been looking at Marcus Rashford MBE and how inspirational he is to us all. Did you know he helped school children eating during COVID-19? He also set up a charity called FareShare and raised an enormous £20 million. Wow!
We’ve had a great time in science. We have been learning all about the different types of skeletons. We had to use marshmallows to make a figure. We soon realised that we needed cocktail sticks to help give our marshmallow figures more shape and stability. Just like our bones in our body!
In history we have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We had to be super detectives and look at sources of evidence to work out what happened. We had so much fun working together using our magnifying glasses.
In maths we have been learning about place value. We had to order our numbers from smallest to biggest. We had lots of fun working together in groups to work out different problems using our problem solving and reasoning skills.
We have had the best first few days back after our summer holidays. We have been so lucky that Cheshire Falconry came into school and taught us all about owls. We learnt so much! The owls were flying around our school hall and we even got to hold or stroke them.
