Class 4 - Castle - Mr Bullock & Mrs Rigby

PE

This half-term, PE will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so please come to school in PE kit on these days.  PE kit should be a navy t-shirt and black or navy joggers/pants. A lighter blue or white t-shirt will be acceptable.

Reading

Our expectation for reading is to read at least 3 times per week and each one recorded in reading diaries. Diaries will be checked twice a week on a Tuesday and Friday. However, reading books and diaries should be brought to school every day.

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday and expected to be completed by the following Wednesday.  This will consist of a Maths activity (TT Rockstars or other), an English activity (writing/spag/reading), and a Spelling activity (Spelling Shed or other). The activities set each week are detailed below.

Homework due Wednesday 20th May

RE: Complete research on a Saint of your choice to find out how they used the gifts of the Holy Spirit well to be a good example of a Disciple of Jesus. You can bring your notes in, print them out, or even upload any research to SeeSaw. We will need these for our RE lesson on Wednesday 20th May.
Some examples are: St Augustine of Hippo, St Thomas Aquinas, St Maximilian Kolbe, St Therese of Lisieux, St Padre Pio.

You should find out:

  • Key facts like when they were born, when they lived, where they lived
  • What they were able to achieve in their lifetime
  • Which gifts of the Holy Spirit the achievement(s) link to (wisdom, understanding, knowledge, fortitude, piety, fear of the Lord, right judgement)

Spelling: Complete the spelling activity ‘Hidden Words’ provided on paper for our ‘Words ending -ate’ pattern. The words we are practising are: appreciate, communicate, desperate, exaggerate, immediate, certificate, delicate, abbreviate, indicate, vacate.

Maths: Complete ‘[Y5] Improper and Mixed Fractions’ on MyMaths.

English: Complete ‘Personification’ on SeeSaw.

Spelling: Complete the spelling activity ‘Spelling Prices’ provided on paper for our ‘Words containing -ough’ pattern. The words we are practising are: enough, though, although, thought, through, rough, cough, sought, bought, tough.
