Prayer and Liturgy

At St Edward’s, daily Prayer and Liturgy are central to our school life, creating a special time for pupils and staff to gather in worship through learning, music, reflection, and prayer. Our worship is inclusive, offering every member of the school community the opportunity to take part, while honouring the integrity of each family and their cultural background.

Children pray together at different times throughout the school day with reverence and respect. Each class also holds its own Gathering in Prayer, and we are teaching the children how to lead these themselves as part of their faith journey.

Every Monday, Mrs Snell leads our Celebration of the Word, giving the school community the chance to reflect on Scripture together. On Tuesdays, Miss McCulloch teaches whole-school singing practice, where children learn hymns and songs of praise. Each Friday, we hold a Celebration Assembly to recognise and give thanks for the children’s successes both in and out of school.

As part of our Catholic life, we also attend Mass regularly at our parish church, where we gather together with Father Peter to celebrate the Eucharist and deepen our faith as a community.

From Spring term onwards, we look forward to inviting parents and carers to join us for some of our Prayer and Liturgy celebrations, strengthening the link between school, parish, and home.
